I used railway ties in my landscaping at my cottage. After about 2-3 years they stopped seeping oil and have now a lovely faded look to them. Good luck with yours.

the oil will seep for years. they are pressure treated with oil to preserve them. what do you mean they are staining your clothes? if so stay away from them. you could try hot steam blasting them if you can find a pressure cleaner like this.
