WELL FOR SPRINKLERS

I recently purchased a house with sprinklers that runs off well water. It seems no waters is coming out and I am getting sand. I called a well company and they told me it is time for a new well. He said $1,300 for the new well. Any help? Is it worth a new well? I live on Long Island in New York and the water is not cheap.

mrcaptainbob is an unknown quantity at this point
Depends on where it's coming from. I had a cracked well casing. The well compabny said I needed a new one, too. Set it all up and had the county inspector out to bless it all when he asked why I thought I needed a new one. When told the story, he suggested I repair what I had and that the new well may be more in the drillers best interest than mine. So I figured a way to repair it and we were all happy. (Except the drillers!)There are some special filters for high sand water. I think they spin the water and it separates the sand and any other stuff. Similar to the spin cycle on the wsaher. I'd call around for something like that, or look it up on the internet.
