I have underground gutter drains that are not working. The downspouts
feed into 5" clay tile at ground level. Does this sound like they
might all feed into a tile somewhere? Its an old farmhouse, built
pre1900. I would like to fix these, but I dont have the time/money
to get into a huge job right now. I have one leaky spot in the
basement that is right where one of these are backing up. I have seen
other places that have a setup like this, but I am not sure how they
normally run these underground. Anyone know common practices for this?
I don't know the convention for running these lines Pre-1900. I can say that the lines are probably cracked and or shattered after all these years. For now, to stop your problem, you could just install something at the base of the downspout to get the water away from the structure. There are lots of methods/products to choose from.
