we already know your wires at the stat but how bout at both units, colors and what connected to. I'm also having trouble following, you said air works with on off switch, do you mean blower comes on when the fan switch is set to on. Then if you put it to auto and call for cool nothing happens. Didnt understand if air meant ac or blower. Next question would be whether there is a pressure safety on the outside unit. I would shut power off at outside unit, look to see if there is any resets ( red button most likely on control ) if this is tripped it would not allow the contactor to pull in. But should this be the case you would not want to be near the fan if it suddenly came on. Dont think this is your problem but a thaught. I'm not very familiar with coleman so i'm not sure if theres wires or terminal blocks in the air handler but if you can give any specifics about what the low voltage wires are connected to im sure someone can give you more info.
