Impact on HVAC when closing off unused rooms?

I have a two-story home. Each floor has its own A/C and furance; thermostats, ductwork etc completely independant.

The second floor has 4 bedrooms and 2 baths. However, right now I only use 1 br and 1 bath. Since I do not want to cool/heat the unused rooms I have closed the vents and doors.

While I am saving energy, is there any detrimental affect on the (Trane) HVAC system?

Take and open it all up again. Let the unit work and run like it should. Your not saving anything here. The blower will take more amps to run with every thing closed up. The main point of the AC is to get the humidity out of the home. It cant like this. Then if you think temp. there is no insulation in the inside walls so the heat from the other rooms will get to you. Have had people like close off a room in the winter also it ends up it cost more than to let it heat . Same with AC open it up. When you get the humidity out you will push the tstat up ,there you will save.

I agree about opening them up. Less airflow means chance of freezing coil(or at least running coil to cold) and beating up the compressor. Have to disagree though about the amps, move less air less draw on motor. Not gonna save you anything though, just cause problems
