HVAC fan stays on

I have a HVAC system that the fan stays on dispite the fact that the temperature is achieved and the outside unit shuts off. This places ambient air through out the house.

To get the fan to shut off, I manually have to reset the circuit breaker.

The problem is intermittent,

The house heats and cools ok

It appears when the desire temp is met, I hear a click sound from the thermostat as well as the outside unit..... This may indicated that the these units have sent the signal to shut down the fan has been sent.

I had a service tek out to look at it but i was not impressed.

Do you have any ideas

Lots of ifs here. You dont say what tstat you have there. next time pull G wire off tstat and see if it stops. If not go to the indoor unit and hit it hard on the side with your hand. If that dont stop it, it could be in the board on the unit. So try them all.

Ambient air indicates the furnace fan stays on and not the outisde compressor fan. If that is the case, the relay or fan switch is likley to be sticking closed.

Burnt or sticking contact points in the fan relay switch or those on the fan motor for the fan inside the furnace (furnace fan) maybe...???

When it happens again smack the furnace. The unit should shut down> Indicates the fan switch is defective. Replace it.

Trying To Help You Too.
Good Luck.
