Boiler Heater Cover-Needs Replacement

Hello again,
Our house has a boiler heating system and no ductwork for A/C (another problem all together).
We noticed last winter (after being there 6 months) that the previous owners used Luan-type wood pieces to construct a make shift heater cover in the 1/2 bath downstairs. The contraption consists of a bunch of strips of 'wood' slats that are tucked into the original metal brackets, so it looks like a regular metal cover from afar. The inspecter didn't seem to notice this either when we had the home inspected (or he did and didn't consider it to be an issue). The positioning of the heater (behind the sink and toilet)makes it impossible to notice unless while seated on the throne you decide to check out what's going on behind you. [xx(]
Is this a fire hazard? Nothing happened last winter, but we didn't really run the heat a lot. Where can I purchase a real metal cover for it? I don't want to run the risk of fire or other damage.[?]

Any help would be great!

Although wood is certainly not the best choice of materials there really is not concern about a fire hazard. The maximum operating temperature of he radiator remains well below the minimum ignition temperature for wood or paper.
