Room Heater for Basement
The finished area of my basement is 11 ft. by 30 ft. I would like to heat this area. I presently have a ventless gas heater, but from what everyone tells me, these are not all that safe because of carbon monoxide they put out. What type heater would you recommend to heat this type of area? I don't really want to go with a vented system due to costs and installation problems.
Thanks!!

Ed, I have two heat vents from the regular furnace in the basement - one on the finished side and one on the unfinished side. We keep the furnace thermostat set on 69 degrees and that gets the basement to about 65-66 degrees - just a little chilly. I could go electric and was hoping someone would be able to recommend a unit that would be capable of heating the finished side of my basement a couple of degrees without running my electric bill really high. Thanks for your response.

rdgallo...it would not matter what brand or type of electric heater you choose,,1 watt/hour = 3.412 BTU/hr.
Since electric heat has no flue losses the cost of heating with electric would be nearly the same no matter what type of electric heater you use. The only variation would be the effeciency of distributing the heat.
