About My Sears again

Well I didn't get a reply on my last question about the manifold to burner question. Well heres a development...a rather loud VOOOSSH! apon startup. There seems to be an acrid smell as well...not a gas smell but almost acidic. This doesn't happen everytime but mostly when the temperature in the house is stable for a period of time and the burner hasn't run for 15-20 minutes. I have cleaned of the burner heads with a brush, vaced the unit out and for a short time things seem to be fine, then VOOOOSSSSHH! What do ya think...cracked heat exchange?
