thermostat stuck on heat

I know nothing about thermostats.. I'm still a newlywed, so it's safe to assume I know nothing. This is an electronic thermostat, a "Simple Comfort 2201" model that is stuck on the heat. Reset buttons do no help, and nothing looks suspicious. For now, we are flipping the breaker off and on for heat, but there has to be a quick fix without replacing the whole thing. The house is 1 1/2 years old. Also, last night, there was an odd smoky smell to the heat... maybe it was or wasn't related... help!

Scratch that. Anyone who finds something similar, check the relays. Mine needed replacing.
