Blower motor and capacitor

I just put a new blower motor in my AC to replace a motor that was still working, but was smelling "burnt" intermittently.
The new motor does not start (just hums), but will start if I manually give the fan a push.

Does this indicate a bad capacitor (rating was the same for old motor, 5 mfd 370 vac)?

Thanks!

tm

use a screwdriver across the capacitor with the unit off and power disconnected. a good capacitor will give a sharp snap and spark if it is ok. a dead one will give no spark. use a capacitor of a higher mfd rating but keep the voltage range within the value of the old one 370 VAC.
