LP Heat Smells at first

We ran pretty low on LP last month (first winter with a propane heat system) and the furnace started to have a propane smell when it kicked on. I've heard that it's pretty typical to smell the propane when the tank gets low. We've filled the tank, but still have the smell when the blower first kicks on.

I've spoken to a friend who does commercial HVAC. He said the ignition timing might be off a little, but he didn't think there was a way to "tune" the time if the ignition is electronic, which I believe our unit is.

Can anyone help me figure out if this is fixable or not? Thanks. Cathy
