Bryant Furnace smell

Hi, I have a Bryant gas forced air furnace. Lately the furnace has been giving off a buring smell through the ducts. Following this, the furnace stops working for a while but eventually comes back on and seems fine. The only thing I noticed is that the air filter was put in backwards. Even after fixing that, the problem is still happening.
