Leaking Transformer?

My Beckett burner will not ignite and I think the problem is the transformer has leaked black gunk all over the electrical wires. How difficult is it to replace this part? I have no heat and the last repairman who came in couldn't "find a problem"... It had been working without any problem and then the "gunk" appeared. Any help would be appreciated.
