Painting Estimate

I am trying to evaluate the reasonableness of a painting estimate for the exterior of my new home, which includes two coats of clear stain on cedar shakes and two coats of paint on the trim. The painter who provided the quote has already done the inside of the house and his quote for the outside is about the same amount. Seems like there should be much less detail work on the outside, and so the estimate should be lower. Thoughts?
