problem with painter's tape

My fault on this one........ Doing some trim work around the house, I had lined the underside of some new crown molding with painter's tape. I painted the molding, then left it to dry. Then I moved onto other home projects. That was a couple months ago, and I forgot to remove the tape. Now, when I pull the tape off the wall, some of the wall paint is coming off with the tape. I obviously left it on too long. Now, normally I'd just apply touch-up paint to the problem spots, but while the paint I have is supposed to be the same color, it is off a shade and doesn't match exactly. I think this was an error when the paint dealer mixed the paint about 8 months ago, when I was painting the room -- the recipe was off a hair. anyway, my question is: Are there any suggestions on how to remove this old tape without peeling paint off the wall?

Nope! You should have removed it shortly after doing the trim paint. Be advised also that even after a month, wall paints change hue.

one tip on removing painters tape that has been there too long.

first score along the molding

second use a hairdryer to warm the glue.

see if that helps.
