Painting the Exterior of a house

How often should I have to paint the exterior of my house? It seems that it is wearing too quickly. It should last more than five years, shouldn't it?

I think five years is way to soon to have to paint again. IMO 15 to 20 years would be sufficent. If you live on the coast then five years would be about right.
