Leaky Pipe - small fix I think - Newbie needs help

Hi Folks,

In my basement I have a line that runs to an outside faucet. The valve that controls that line has a very small leak . Maybe it is the packing inside ? - The leak appears to be near the junction of the pipe to the valve.

I was wondering if there was a solder or pipe dope that I could buy to stop that leak ??

Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks - jg1234

Try tightening up the packing nut with a wrench to see if the leak stops. If not you may need to replace the packing. Make sure you turn off the water supplying that faucet before disassembling.
