Well Water

We have been having some problems with our well water. Every now and then when you turn the water on it dribbles out. You turn the taps off and back on and you get water. It is almost like there is a air lock. Any suggestions.

I would suspect that their is not enough air in the pressure tank. When you first turn the faucett on it drops the pressure quickly, which then starts the pump and you are then getting pressure directly from the pump.

Emmie. Shut off the pump power, drain the pressure tank of all water. Check air pressure in tank. Air pressure should be 2 psi below cut-in setting of pump.
(if pump cuts in at 30, then air pressure in tank should be 28.)

Turn on power to pump, pump should start and re-fill tank.

Note; Some pressure switches (square D sfg 2 ) have a lever that may have to be "tripped" in order for the switch to re-activate the pump.
If so, hold this lever up for a few seconds when first re-starting.
