Water soluable flux

I noticed that there is a water soluable flux. I guess because it is more potable than regular flux? Is it as good as regular flux & is it applied in the same way?

LazyPup has a spectacular aura about
Many local jurisdictions are now requiring the use of water soluable flux when soldering copper pipe and fittings in the potable water supply.

In theory it is applied in the same manner and is completely interchangable with the commom soldering flux however, in reality water soluable flux has a much lower overall heat range than the regular petrobase flux and even those people who are currently very confident of their soldering skills will find that water soluable flux will require a bit of practice to get the feel of it.

Personally, I use it in those areas where it is required but I much prefer to use regular flux when permitted to do so.
