Garbage Disposal Loud and Shakes

After about 4 years of service my Sears Kenmore Disposal started being quite loud and seems to shake the sink. This problem came on suddenly. It does not cut off and seems to do it's job but I have to believe that it is not good for it. I've been able to turn the shredder plate without noticable resistance. Looking inside, the mashers seem to be intact.

I'm not sure what the next step in diagnosis is. Is there anything simple I should try? I don't look forware to pulling it out of the sink and opening it up. If I do pull it, would it be best to assume it's at the end of it's lifecycle and get a new one. What is the typical life of a disposal anyway?

Any input is appreciated - Todd
