I'm leaning towards an ABS backwater valve, on the outlet side of a new sump, from Canplas Plumbing (on their website).

If you install a sump pump pit and pump that will take care of the problem of water coming in thru the cracks in the floor but I would install a backflow preventer on the line outside to keep it from getting under the floor or I would completly discontinue the gravity drain to keep it from backing into the house. Go to clearpvcpipe.com they have a 3" and 4" backflow preventer that will work on the line outside that is designed for the problem that you have

I will have to install the backflow valve near the sump pit in the floor with an acccess pit for maintenance. I would install the valve at the end of the field tile, but I'm not sure how many other tiles are tied in.

Ok, I am in the middle of digging out the pit and noticed the sump liner is solid ABS. I'm thinking I should drill a few holes to let hydrostatic water in and for a drain at the bottom?

Redwood will become famous soon enough
I would seal off and abandon the flooded line to the ditch, and put in a pump station to lift the water to a new gravity line to the ditch that discharges above the flood in the ditch. this will maintain your drains in operating condition. You can't have tis line flooded.

I will drill small holes in the pit 1/4 in if I think the water level will go higher then the pit to keep it in the floor and they also help to drain water when the water level is down. From your original post I think you have drain tiles under your floor so this wont hurt anything. Make sure you put rocks around the pit

Cool

Thanks all for the info. The ABS sump pit, check valve and pump are installed and working fine. Hopefully the flooding won't occur again soon, but now I'll be ready.

The way I understand it is when the creek floods it pushes water back through the drain into the basement.

I hope the check valve is out side well away from the house and the valve can withstand the water pressure from the creek trying to get back into the house.

The pump if it discharges into that same line may be a problem...
