PVC to galvanized steel?

Hi all-

This morning I discovered that my tenant poked a hole in the drain pipe under her sink. So I get to fix it when I get home

My question is, is it possible/advisable to connect PVC to galvanized steel? All the piping under her sink is galvanized steel (old house). Is my best bet to just get a replacement piece of PVC and connect that to the old piping? Will that work okay? Or, should I just take out all the galvanized and use all PVC?

If I need to use galvanized for some reason, do they still make that?

thanks for your thoughts,
Matt

Troy is an unknown quantity at this point
I don't think I can answer definitively, but when the plumbers replaced a section of my steel pipe a few weeks ago, they replaced it with pvc. They connected the pvc to the steel, and it is working fine. I think it is an acceptable practice.

Let us know how it goes.

Yes you can Connect PVC/CPVC to Galvanized or Steel pipe.
Also if you have copper and want to connect it to Pvc/Cpvc they sell a fitting called Genova fittings it works great connecting the 2.
