Thumbs down Granite countertops

Does anyone know of any advantages with 2cm granite vs 3cm granite?? The 2cm is definitely cheaper- but I also know in some instances you get what you pay for. Any thoughts??

2CM is installed over a plywood rough top. The edge of the plywood is hidden by either a molding, euro style drawers and doors or an ogee trim on the counter-top edge.
Under counter appliances are also easily attached to the plywood.

3CM usually is not accompanied by a rough top.
