Load Bearing Wall?

I'd like to knock out the wall between my kitchen and living room but I don't know if it's load bearing. How can I tell if a wall is load bearing?

do you have access to an attic? if you do go up there and you should see the top plate that forms the walls. a bearing wall usually supports roof rafters or a wall above it. if the wall above is offset from the bottom wall then it isn't load bearing. you can use an engineered beam to support the wall above by using tripled up jack studs on the ends
