door too short

help! i just recently bought my first home and the the glass door on the external side of the house is too short! the top needs closed in some way as i cant afford a new door right now. i have problems with birds getting stuck between the two doors! thanks!

at home depot or lowes they have an aluminum threshold extension like for protecting against drafts. maybe you can use this same principle on the upper part. you may have to trim a little but a carbide blade in a tablesaw WILL cut aluminum. Wear goggles and advance the piece very slowly.
