tying concrete steps into existing porch

I want to pour a sidewalk and concrete steps on to my existing concrete porch. Do I drill holes into my existing porch and place rebar from the porch into the concrete steps I want to pour?

You should if you don't want them settling at drastically different rates.
You will need to use chemical epoxy to hold the rebar in place.

there is also a concrete latex bonding agent you apply before the pour. it goes on milky white and dries to a purple hue.
