    If using a surge protector helps with power surges from the grid, would one protector plugged into another before the electrical device be safer? I don't have a whole house surge protector to layer with the outlet surge protector and wondered if this idea would work.

    no, because a surge protector is just a spark gap that channels the spike to earth ground. doubling up the gap would be counter protective.

      I actually wasn't aware that you couldn't plug a surge protector into a surge protector. At least, I wasn't aware if you could do it safely or not. I suppose if I wanted to protect my home from an overall power surge, I'd hire an electrician to evaluate what needs to be fixed. Does anyone know of a website or booklet that has thorough electrician reviews? It would immensely appreciated!
