  • Technics su-v97 amplifier

Hello -- I have a SU-V97 Amplifier connected to a SH8033 graphic equalizer both of which have been working flawlessly since 1983. They just don't make electronics as they used to period. So, I think my little amplifier has finally gone kaput. I hear a low level buzz but can still hear the music so I initially thought that the speakers (B&W) had blown but I tried different speakers and the same problem.

So, I'm not sure where to begin. Should I take this thing apart and test voltages on the board, etc. Should I take it to an electronics shop and get charged out the yazoo, should I chuck it (def. don't want to do that).

I don't have schematics as well -- any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

have you searched through HOWARD SAMS INC. for a schematic? You'll need an audio signal generator and an oscilloscope to troubleshoot any amplifier.

thx much. I fixed the problem, can't believe it was just a loose cable.
