  • GE Arctica Profile Refrigerator - Model PSS27NHMAWW - No Display -- No Cooling

I noticed that the freezer on our GE Profile side by side refrigerator was not working (thaw process started). Also the temperature display was not lit up.

I unplugged fridge, removed back panels, cleaned the condenser (fairly dirty).

Left unplugged for a while and plugged in to see what happened.

    Results:

Display lit up, Condenser fan ran and compressor started (sounded fine with quiet hum). This lasted from 1 to 5 seconds and would kick out and display would go dead as well.

Repeated this a number of times with same results. Time of compressor run would vary with length that fridge was left unplugged.

    Any Thoughts?

That might be caused by a failure of the main control 'mother' board on the back of the fridge. I can't think of anything else offhand that would cause the display to go out and everything to go dead.

Thank you - I was oping it might be something simple like compressor overload.

The fans and display would not be affected by a compressor overload problem. Only the compressor's operaton.

        JFYI

          Thanks again,

Replaced motherboard today and fridge appears to be working fine.
