  • Window repair and residential glasss replacement

Anytime you need window repair or residential glass replacement make sure you call someone who specializes in window replacement and repair and knows what he is doing. It's better if you replace your old drafty windows with new quality windows which will save you money on your utilities. It will keep the cold out in the winter and keep you cooler in the summer. But if you can't afford residential glass replacement, you can still improve the energy efficiency of existing windows.

Here are some tips on how you can improve the existing windows. First of all you should start by checking for air infiltration or leakage around the window frames and this way you can discover if you have any gaps or cracks that allow warm or cold air to leave or enter the house. But this isn't a major problem because it can be fixed inexpensively with weather stripping and caulk. Another method is by applying a window film to the glass to reflect harsh sunlight. Films are generally made of polyester or thin plastic applied to the window's interior by homeowners or glued to the surface by professional installers. So, as you can see, when it comes to window repair you might still need specialists. At least you know you are getting quality work.

Older windows that are drafty, sagging and refuse to open often suffer from lack of maintenance rather than poor workmanship. Depending on the problems you have you can always call a window repair specialist or a residential glass replacement contractor. Just think about your safety. You can't allow an intruder break into your home via a glass window.

regardless, an intruder WILL break glass to gain access. glass is not the most secure feature of a house. compare it to a screen. a burgler will rip a screen or break glass to get into your house. you almost have to install inside bars or perforated heavy gauge screen to keep our intruders.

      That's why I like dogs.

Dogs aren't very imaginative in their thinking. They know who belongs in a house and who doesn't, and a dog doesn't feel the need to question the status quo. So, if a dog discovers someone in his territory that doesn't belong, it'll generally choose the most a straight forward and effective way to deal with that situation. It'll attack that intruder with the intention of inflicting the most painful bites it can, and will keep doing that until the intruder moves out of the dog's territory or stops moving altogether.

It's precisely that unimaginative thinking that makes dogs so effective at dealing with intruders.

      That's why I like dogs.

I think by now there are many very safe kinds of glass, but it's true - after all, those who want to get in will somehow manage to. Yet, one can prevent them from doing more harm by installing glass fibers which are so strong that their breaking can only come about if they hit it at least 30 times. That would probably wake one or the other person in the neighborhood if one is not at home. I mean, some people really store their heirlooms, their jewelry and IWC watches in their homes and thieves are keen on these precious things. And an alarm signal should be installed too. Valuable time can be saved that way.

If it is broken, I'd only let a specialist repair it. Glass is something that I would not fix myself.
