  • Does Bryant Evolutionl furnace need Evolution Thermostat

I want to replace a very old Sequoia Gas Furnace with a Bryant Evolution Variable Speed 80% efficiency furnace. There is no AC involved. One HVAC contractor told me that this definitely needs an Evolution Thermostat for the variable speed to function. Another HVAC contractor told me that since no AC is involved, the Evolution furnace doesn't need a special thermostat and any decent 2-stage thermostat will do and the furnace will control the variable speed. I wrote to Bryant and they said they I should ask the question from an HVAC contractor. I am quite frustrated because the Evolution Thermostat is $350 and I don' want to make a mistake here. Also if one of the contractor's is wrong, I want to avoid that one. Thanks very much for your help.
