  • Three-year old tree seems to have a dead branch

My three-year old tree seems to have a dead branch.
    Please see the attached photos.
    What should I do?
    Should I cut it?

    tree branch

cut it off nearer to the trunk and paint the exposed side with an asphalt based paint.
the paint serves to close the open pores so mold doesn't have a chance to grow. over time the tree will "heal" over.

Yes, cut it off back at the trunk.
Little about a lot and a lot about a little.

Definitely cut it back. Since it is already dead there will be no consequences for the tree whatsoever.

The tree is probably ten, twelve feet high since the thread started back in aught six.

still should cut it off if it's dead

you should cut the branch off. all of the nutrients will go to that dead branch and kill the rest of the tree, trying to save the branch. same with flowers and other plants. always cut the dead off

Yes you need to cut it off back near the trunk.
