brown spots on wall ceiling panels

I saw some brown spots on wall ceilings, one of the ceilings had it in the middle while others have smaller brown spots that is running across its edge.

It is not soaking wet, but its little fresh. The water looks dirty, the insulation material above the ceiling does not have any water. The pipe does not have any water or hole, what is the cause for this, am not able to figure this out.

Sounds like water stains, a picture would help greatly.
Often the insulation won't be wet, especially if it's a small water leak in the roof.\
