  • GE refrigerator/freezer heating up

    I have a GE freezer/refrigerator unit and noticed last night that the freezer was hot to the touch around the outside but only around the freezer door. Can anyone tell me what may be happening? Is this unit likely beyond repair?

    That is heat from the fridge's condenser. It is not functioning properly.

    The condenser coil may be dirty and need to be *thoroughly* cleaned and/or the condenser fan motor may have failed and need to be replaced as described at the following link. Either should be corrected as soon as possible as those conditions put added strain on the compressor which could lead to premature failure and require expensive ($$$!) repairs.
