  • Hacking a bread machine for the motor

I've got a project where I want to use the motor from a bread machine for power. It'll run for an extended period and I'm gambling it's got just enough torque to do what I need.

The eventual goal is to use an Arduino as the timer and program a very specific sequence for it, but for now all I need is on/off.

I want to hack the machine's own electronics and turn the motor on and off. I would like to think it's as simple as clipping a couple of wires and installing a switch, but the capacitor (I presume that's what it is) in the mix has me flummoxed.

I've all but rebuilt my 1920s farm house from the foundation up, and repaired (by replacing parts) both the stove and the washing machine, but when it comes to hacking appliances I'm totally new to this sort of thing.

I've attached a photo of what I'm working with.
