  • ripping off kitchen tile backspash

    Hi,
my husband and I are going to be ripping off the old, falling down kitchen tile backsplash. We are afraid of what we are going to find behind the tile...what the condition of the wall is...we are assuming that the wall is not properly insulated (exterior wall)..and plan on just gutting it down to the studs. What type of wall board should we use to replace it?? Just regular drywall?? I plan on just painting under the cabinet area a color that goes w/my decor. Also, under the sink..is just the exposed pipes, not insulated properly..and what looks like just old/falling apart plaster??! What type of wall board should be used under the sink area??

    Thanks!

I know it's late, but you should use greenboard. It's just like regular drywall, but it is green....hence the name. This will be more moisture resisistant than regular drywall.
