  • Washer drain tie-in

I probably already know the answer to some of these but....
I am planning on adding an additional washer and dryer in the basement. I can handle adding the GFCI outlet and tying into the water supply but am still trying to figure out the washer drain. It would be conveniant to tie into the sewer where a 3" pipe comes down along the wall. Could I just connect to the clean-out thats already there near the floor? This pipe is the main drain for the toliet, shower, and whirlpool on the 2nd level. I am assuming there is a vent pipe somewhere above them. If I had to create a second tie-in the minimum height I could put it would be about 26". Is this going to make the drain and p-trap too high?
I will also have to tie into a gas line but I'll leave that to a pro.
Can you tie into an existing PVC vent for the gas furnace? Something tells me not to. What are the regs for venting gas dryers?
    Thanks!
