  • Hi Hats in eave soffit

I bought five 3" hi hats that I want to put in the front eaves of my roof. There seems to be a couple of inches clearance from the end of the hi hat to top of the eave. The eave is closed all the way from one side to the other and it has 3" removable caps, about 12 of them. I wanted to put 5 hi hats spaced every few openings and wire them consecutively with romex wire. I was wondering if it would be OK heat wise? The hi hats are 50W haolgen bulbs. Thanks for any input

yeah I don't see any problems there - do the eaves get some sort of ventilation? it takes wood to get to 512 degrees before it will burn so I'm fairly sure you're safe. Regular romex is ok for the install

The caps thru the eaves have opening in them, so the ones I wouldn't be replacing with lights about 7 of them I would think, would provide some venting.
