  • warm floor...

    Hi,

I have hardwood floor in my kitchen area where I have a gas cooking island and built-in fridge. Lately I started to note that the floor area around the fridge and the cooking island feel much warmer than the rest of the kitchen, and the seams of an area around the fridge are slowly opening up. I am not sure what it means and I don't know if the original owner has a sub-floor heating system installed when the house was built.

    Suggestions and comments appreciated.

It sounds like the heat from the island is causing the problems. Is there any insulation around the island? Perhaps it is wearing thin?

I had that problem where my tile floor was warm. I found out that the hot water pipe was leaking under the concrete. If you have a leak, the moisture will definitly affect your hardwood flooring.
