How Do I Fill Existing Cut Out in Wall?

I have a bedroom that has a door on one wall and a large opening that goes from the floor up to about 2 feet from the ceiling. I want to fill this in so that it is a regular inclosed bedroom. The walls are textured and all the manuals I have looked at deal with none textured walls. Any advice?

The opening from the room goes into the entry hall of the house. IF I fill this in then there would be a true hall at the door entry.

Your description is a little vague. What does the large opening go to ?
