adding stucco to drywall

Hi
I have a den that had paneling and a chair rail on the bottom, and stucco on the top half of the wall. I removed the paneling and chair rail and would like to make the bottom look like the top, and then put a new chair rail on. I found some veneer plaster in my cellar. Can I use this to plaster the walls and create a stucco look? Is there any special technique to doing this? The walls are just regular wallboard, but some cardboard is showing from pulling off the paneling where it was glued.
Thank you

Troy is on a distinguished road
You should do a test run with what you already have, and see how it goes. See if you can match the thickness and texture of the stucco on the top. The plaster will do a great job of covering up any problems that the removal of the paneling caused.

Let us know how it goes. Welcome to the forum!
