cutting 1" outside corner for doorway

I am having difficulty trying to vision how to cut corners at a 45 degree angle, where the top horizontal and side vertical meet. I am using 'L" shaped, 1" outside wood corners. I have stained them and they are covering paneling - over - wallboard. Any good ideas?
