Bathroom tile over existing mud/drywall

At first we decided to just go smooth finish on the drywall but later decided that maybe we would put tile. I'm wanting to put tile over the existing drywall but I'm worried the glue won't adhere to it. The mud already on the sheet rock is thin and clean. Any ideas?

As long as the mud and drywall are in good order there should be no problems tiling over the top, as long as it's not being exposed to water.
